Another school bus beatdown: Mom says special-needs daughter attacked on bus by 2 girls — 1 who doesn't go to the school — on her 15th birthday

On the heels of a horrific video showing a much larger male teen beating a 9-year-old girl on a school bus earlier this month, yet another vicious beating on a school bus was caught on cellphone video, WFOR-TV reported.

What are the details?

Like the first beating, this one also took place in Miami-Dade County, the station said.

Johanna Velez told WFOR her daughter — a special-needs student at Cutler Bay Middle School — was attacked by two girls while riding the bus home Feb. 3.

"That should've not happened," Velez noted to the station. "My daughter should've been protected."

Velez told WFOR a girl attacked her daughter, and then that girl's older sister — who doesn't attend the school — also began beating her daughter.

"The bus driver left the bus door open, so another person came in, which was the sister of the little girl who goes to school with my daughter," Velez explained to the station.

Worse still, the attack took place on the victim's 15th birthday, WFOR said.

"She was a mess, she was a wreck, she was shaking, she was crying, and she was screaming," Velez noted to the station, adding that her daughter also suffered a concussion.

The distraught mother also told WFOR that she reached out to the school's principal, who hasn't responded to her: "So, I have not gotten no answers from nobody."

The station said it asked the school district about what disciplinary action, if any, has taken place and what's being done about this incident — and WFOR said the district replied that the student involved has been disciplined according to the code of student conduct, but officials didn't elaborate.

The district also told the station that Miami-Dade police are handling the investigation regarding the other person who jumped aboard the bus and joined in the fight.

Velez revealed to WFOR that her daughter is traumatized and likely won't return to Cutler Bay Middle School.

Attorney hired

Velez also has hired an attorney, the station said.

"Enough with the deliberate indifference to student safety. You're on notice, you've been on notice. We're a week or less or right around a week since the awful Coconut Palm incident, and here we are with another bus assault. When will it end?" attorney Joseph Montgomery noted to WFOR.

Montgomery added to the station that he plans to serve legal papers within the next few weeks.
