Ben Shapiro hits Obama with dose of reality for lecturing Americans about the 'whole truth' of Israel-Hamas war

Former President Barack Obama lectured Americans in a recent interview about their complicity in the war between Israel and Hamas.

"If you want to solve the problem, then you have to take in the whole truth. And you then have to admit nobody's hands are clean, that all of us are complicit to some degree," Obama said.

But what exactly is the whole truth?

According to Obama, who was speaking on a forthcoming episode of "Pod Save America," the truth is that there are complexities that complicate solving the deep-rooted problems between Israel and the Palestinians.

"If there's any chance of us being able to act constructively to do something, it will require an admission of complexity and maintaining what on the surface may seem like contradictory ideas," Obama said.

"That was Hamas did was horrific, and there's no justification for it. And what is also true is that the occupation, and what's happening to Palestinians, is unbearable," he continued. "And what is also true is that there is a history of the Jewish people that may be dismissed unless your grandparents or your great-grandparents or your uncle or your aunt tell you stories about the madness of anti-Semitism. And what is true is that there are people right now who are dying who have nothing to do with what Hamas did."

The problem, of course, is that Obama promotes a "truth" that is not universally regarded as such.

Is everyone partially responsible for Hamas' savage terrorism, or is the former president projecting his own regret from his time as leader of the free world? Does everyone agree that there is an "occupation" of Palestine, or is Obama drawing moral equivalencies and giving a nod to the agenda that would prefer Israel not exist?

It is true, on the other hand, that people forget why the modern nation-state of Israel exists. And it is also true that civilians are dying in Gaza. But what Obama conveniently excluded from his diatribe is that Hamas will not allow those civilians to escape because the terrorists want to use them as human shields.

Ben Shapiro summed up the problems with Obama's remarks.

"Obama was certainly complicit," Shapiro said. "His cudgeling of Israel, his enrichment of Iran...all of that was a huge part of a policy that led directly to October 7. His clownish arrogance about the Middle East set the place on fire once. Now he's doing it again."
