Dan Crenshaw slams Dem presidential candidate Castro over his new 'open borders' amnesty plan

"Dems are the party of open borders. Period."

Democratic presidential candidate Julian Castro revealed his plan to "decriminalize" the act of crossing the border without authorization, and got immediately taken to task by Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas).

The former mayor of San Antonio, Texas, unveiled an immigration plan on Tuesday that included amnesty for the millions of illegal aliens already in the country, and "decriminalization" of border crossing. That would mean dropping the legal level of the offense of crossing the border from a criminal to a civil matter.

Crenshaw responded by dismissing the plan in a tweet from his social media account.

"Great idea Castro, way to look out for American citizens," Crenshaw said sarcastically. "Sigh. Dems are the party of open borders. Period.

"The crisis at our border is being described as in a 'free fall'. We need to fix it, not give up," he added.

"Thanks for the suggestion Julian, we will take it from here," Crenshaw concluded dismissively.

Castro's plan calls for an "inclusive road map to citizenship" for the illegal aliens already in the country, which has been estimated to be as many as 22 million. He called for the border to be secured, but without building the border wall proposed by President Donald Trump.

Crenshaw has defended the Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and also from presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke. Ocasio has joined the "abolish ICE" movement, while O'Rourke backed down from his extreme immigration proposal after Crenshaw challenged him.
