CNN anchor Don Lemon asserted Thursday the media should not treat Democrats and Republicans as equals because the GOP is "very dangerous to our society."
What did Lemon say?
Speaking about his experience interviewing a former member of the Oath Keepers, Lemon went on a diatribe explaining why he believes Republicans and Democrats should not be treated equally.
"Speaking very soberly about the realities of America and American politics right now: We sit around and we talk about these things and we want to give this false equivalence to Democrats and Republicans. That is not where we are right now," Lemon said.
"Republicans are doing something that is very dangerous to our society," he claimed.

Lemon argued that journalists — and every American, in fact — must "acknowledge" his assertion as fact. If journalists do not, and, say, provide Republicans with charity and grace, then they are not doing their jobs, Lemon claimed.
Specifically, Lemon demanded that Republicans answer for former President Donald Trump's decisions and the Supreme Court's ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade.
"If they come here on CNN, they must answer for that. If they go on MSNBC, they must answer for that. If they go on ABC, they must answer for that," Lemon said. "They cannot expect to be coddled when they go on to a news organization or if they step in front of a crowd of supporters."
Later in the interview, Lemon suggested the GOP is "merging" with radical groups, like the Oath Keepers, though he did not provide any evidence to substantiate his allegation. In contrast, Lemon charged that the people "who are in charge of what the American press puts out" fail to recognize that Republicans are no longer the party of Ronald Reagan.
Anything else?
The divisive rhetoric comes as CNN's new management tries to steer the news network away from sowing further division in the American political discourse.
New CEO Chris Licht is reportedly evaluating the network's talent and is reportedly prepared to dismiss employees who are overly partisan. Considering CNN's ratings are in the tank, one wonders if Lemon received the memo.
