‘Fox & Friends’ host goes off on Trump in heated interview: ‘He just refounded ISIS!’

Friday morning fireworks on Fox News

"Fox & Friends" host Brian Kilmeade took President Donald Trump to task Friday morning over the president's decision to abruptly withdraw U.S. troops from Syria.

On Wednesday, the president announced that he would pull out all U.S. troops stationed in Syria, claiming that ISIS has been defeated. The withdrawal is expected to take place over a period of 60 to 100 days.

Many lawmakers have criticized the move.

What did Kilmeade say?

Kilmeade roundly criticized the president for a move that he characterized as the "refounding" of ISIS and a "win" for Russia.

During a conversation with White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Kilmeade observed, "Sarah, [Trump is] giving Russia a big win. Vladimir Putin praised him. He also is doing exactly what he criticized President Obama for doing. He said President Obama was the founder of ISIS. [Trump] just refounded ISIS!"

"The president is ... really on the griddle with this," Kilmeade added.

Sanders said that Kilmeade's remarks were "outrageous." She said that "99 percent" of ISIS has been vanquished under Trump and that the violent extremist group would be very foolish to provoke the president.

"Brian, I have to respectfully and vehemently disagree with you," she fired back, chuckling. "The idea that the president has anything to do with helping ISIS re-emerge is absolutely outrageous."

Kilmeade fired back, "Leaving [Syria] is helping. Leaving is helping."

Sanders responded, "The president has put so much emphasis on rebuilding and making sure we have the strongest military on the face of the planet. If ISIS wants to pick a fight with someone, they sure as heck don't wanna pick one with Donald Trump, because he will destroy them and defeat them and he's made that extremely clear."

"We've wiped out 99 percent of ISIS in Syria," Sanders continued. "The president doesn't want to be in the middle of a civil war in the Middle East and continue to put American lives on the line. If we need to fight ISIS again, the president isn't afraid to do that."
