Ilhan Omar's husband reportedly demanding divorce after latest accusations

And it may have involved campaign finance violations

The husband of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) is reportedly demanding a divorce after a bombshell report that she had been having an affair with a political consultant working with her campaign.

The 37-year-old freshman member of Congress has publicly denied the claims that she had an affair with Tim Mynett.

But according to a source that is speaking to the New York Post, her 39-year-old husband Ahmed Hirsi is asking for a divorce after first rejecting Omar's insistence that he file first.

The claims came from a divorce filing by Washington, D.C.-based physician Dr. Beth Jordan Mynett. She says that her husband, Tim Mynett, told her in April that he was having an affair with Omar.

Some are also questioning the rather large sum that Omar's election campaign spent for the services of Tim Mynett's company, the E Street Group. He and his company received about $230,000 from Omar's campaign for travel expenses and fundraising consulting.

When asked by a WCCO-TV reporter whether she was dating anyone and had split with her husband, Omar denied it.

"No, I am not," Omar said. "And like I said yesterday, I have no interest in allowing the conversation about my personal life to continue and so I have no desire to discuss it."

Mynett has also denied the claims and said that his wife is trying to ruin his career over their failed marriage.

Here's a news video about Omar's odd marriage habits:
