Iowa precinct captain tries to convince voter that Pete Buttigieg's homosexuality shouldn't matter. Iowa voter goes viral with fiery response.

It was all caught on camera

The reaction of an Iowa voter is going viral after she learned that Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg is not only openly gay, but married as well.

What are the details?

The voter, an unidentified woman, had just signed a card for Buttigieg during Monday's Iowa caucuses when she found out that Buttigieg is gay.

When she learned the news, she insisted that she wasn't aware, and didn't want someone like that in the White House — so she asked the precinct captain if she can take back her vote.

"Are you saying that he has a same-sex partner?" the woman asked. "I don't want anybody like that in the White House. So can I have my card back? I never knew that."

The precinct captain attempted to reason with the woman, and responded, "I don't know, you signed it. We could go ask."

Before the precinct captain made good on her promise, she made an attempt to dissuade the woman from using Buttigieg's sexuality as a reason to avoid voting for him.

"The whole point of it is, though, [Buttigieg's] a human being, right?" she asked. "Just like you and me and it shouldn't really matter."

The woman replied, "Well, he better read the Bible."

The captain responded by insisting that Buttigieg does read the Bible, but that the woman's views are her own.

"He does, and he says that God doesn't choose a political party," the captain answered. "I totally respect your viewpoint on this, but I think that we were not around when the Bible was written."

"Should it matter if it's a woman or a man if you believe in what they say?" the captain later added.

The woman, however, refused to be intimidated, and answered, "It all just went right down the toilet, that's where it all went."

Taking a different route

"I just ask you to look inside your heart, because you sound like a Christian woman to me, and I'm a Christian woman, and my God says to love everybody," the captain insisted.

The video ended before the captain actually found out if the woman was able to take back her card.
