‘The View’s’ Joy Behar insists that Joe Biden won’t be able to cure cancer — because of climate change
June 14, 2019
OK then
Joy Behar of "The View" insisted that presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden could not make good on his vow to cure cancer if elected, pointing the finger at climate change as the roadblock.
What?
During Friday's episode, Behar said that Biden's biggest hurdle for curing cancer is climate change.
Biden made the sweeping remarks about curing cancer during a campaign speech in Ottumwa, Iowa, Tuesday. He said "I promise you if I'm elected president, you're going to see the single most important thing that changes America — we're gonna cure cancer."
Biden's son Beau died of brain cancer in 2015. Following his son's untimely death, the former vice president launched the Biden Cancer Initiative.
In her remarks, Behar warned that overcoming climate change should be a top priority for the U.S. government if Biden wants to make good on his promise. She also made sure to add a swipe at President Donald Trump in her remarks.
"Curing cancer is going to be much more difficult when there's so much climate change and pollutants in the environment," she insisted.
She continued, "A lot of cancer is environmentally caused, and [Trump] rolls back anything that will clean the air."
"[The government is] working against each other if they don't clean up the emissions," Behar added.
Co-host Meghan McCain responded, and added, "They don't know what causes brain cancer, for whatever it's worth."
McCain, whose father — former Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain — died in 2017 after a lengthy battle with brain cancer. Still, she seemed to support Biden's quest.
"You can't meet anyone who hasn't been impacted by cancer, and I actually think putting that out on the campaign trail is something that, at least for me, is very resonantive [sic], and so I like it," McCain reasoned.
