An open mind is true wisdom — it doesn't include incompetence or smugness

Mike Slater wonders how both populism and smugness has brought us to our current political predicament. He takes a detour by referencing a poem called "Build Me a Son, O Lord" by General MacArthur. Mike highlights the following:

"Give him humility, so that he may always remember the simplicity of greatness, the open mind of true wisdom, the meekness of true strength."

Going into this new year, Mike would like for his show to focus on having an open mind and hearing all opinions.

"The policy on this show has always been that every opinion is welcome as long as you have an argument," Mike says.
