Over the weekend, the Huffington Post featured a transgender activist’s Instagram post promoting the idea that men can menstruate. Cass Clemmer, who goes by “they/them” pronouns, wants to “help shift the mindset around tying periods to womanhood and femininity.” Doc Thompson and the guys had to draw the line on transgender activism that claims menstruation is for men on Monday’s “The Morning Blaze with Doc Thompson.”
Clemmer goes by the title “menstrual health activist” and teamed up with Toni the Tampon, a coloring book character intended to teach kids about menstruation in order to share the photo of “themself” bleeding through khaki pants.
“There are a lot of people who have never considered what it’s like to get your period while not identifying as a woman and I have seen a lot of educational and respectful conversations between commenters on my thread that give me a lot of hope for the future,” Clemmer told the Huffington Post.
Ironically, Clemmer ended “their” Instagram post with a mélange of hashtags that included both “#mencanmenstruate” and “#ifmenhadperiods.” What?
“They/them just invalidated the entire poem right there,” Kris Cruz pointed out.
