Sen. Bernie Sanders' new plan to provide "free" health care for everyone in America, a plan that is supported by socialist superstar Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, will cost taxpayers $32.6 trillion over 10 years, according to a new study by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. Democrats reacted to the study with predictable outrage, saying the the report is grossly exaggerated and that the plan wouldn’t likely cost more than a mere $32 trillion.
To put that mere number into perspective, consider that Americans payed $3.32 trillion dollars in federal taxes in 2017, the highest tax year to date. During that same year, our government spent over $3.98 trillion, bringing the budget deficit total to $666 billion. What would happen if we heaped $32 trillion for a government-run “Medicare For All” plan onto the taxpayer's plate? It doesn't take a genius to be able to see that the math simply doesn't work. Even if federal, individual, and corporate tax rates were doubled to support this plan, it still wouldn't be enough.
"If we fall for this, please, somebody put me in a capsule and just shoot me into space," said Glenn Beck on today's show.
"It’s that stupid," agreed Stu Burguiere. "Especially in a world where we are currently seeing what’s happening in Venezuela. The fact that we have an ongoing example of these policies being played out, going on right now, with their million percent inflation rate, and people eating dogs off the street because there’s no food. Zoo animals are disappearing because people are eating them. That’s going on in the world right now -- at the same time this country is embracing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.”
