New curriculum in schools has kids to ‘write a letter to a terrorist’

In England, schoolchildren can learn about terrorism from new teaching tools, including writing a letter to a terrorist. Doc Thompson, Brandon Morse and Brad Staggs discussed the new teaching resources while they filled in for Glenn Beck on Tuesday’s “The Glenn Beck Radio Program.”

One of the tools in the “Talking about Terrorism” guide is an assignment where kids can write a letter to a terrorist. “’Dear Mr. Terrorist, why are you blowing me up?’” Doc hypothesized what such a letter would sound like.

In one school pamphlet, terrorists are compared to the suffragettes who fought for women’s right to vote, Brandon asserted. Some women who wanted to vote engaged in civil disobedience and were called terrorists, the pamphlet alleged.

“They’re basically saying that one man’s freedom fighter is another man’s terrorist,” Brandon explained.

Doc objected to violent civil disobedience, but he still couldn’t understand someone making the jump from suffragettes protesting for the right to vote all the way to terrorists who deliberately target children and try to kill and maim as many people as possible. “There is a huge leap from that … to blowing up children in a concert,” he said.
