Planned Parenthood sues Indiana over new law, claiming it is 'without compassion
May 19, 2017
Planned Parenthood is suing the state of Indiana over a new law taking effect this summer requiring minors to obtain parental consent before undergoing an abortion.
Planned Parenthood claimed this violates the First Amendment. "Patients should know all options regarding their pregnancies," said Betty Cockrum, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky. "It is blatantly unconstitutional and is entirely without compassion for vulnerable Hoosiers."
Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, on the other hand, said this is about “a parental rights issue and responsibility and common sense."
