Watch: Puerto Rico is yet another example of tragedy used for political gain
October 02, 2017
San Juan mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz Soto has clashed with President Donald Trump over the federal response to Puerto Rico, which was devastated by Hurricane Maria.
The island has been mostly without power, and people need essentials like food, water and medical care. Yulín Cruz has said that what “we are going to see is something close to a genocide” if the government doesn’t do more.
Elizabeth Harrington of the Washington Free Beacon explained why the mayor wasn’t helping with her criticism of Trump on “The Morning Blaze with Doc Thompson.”
Listen to her full segment and get Kris' take on the Puerto Rico situation.
Here are some of the devastating infrastructure problems that are making it difficult to assist Puerto Rico:
- Buildings that aren’t up to code
- Devastated electrical system
- Gas shortages with lines of hundreds of cars
- A “decimated” road system
