The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said that there are “multiple fatalities” in a shooting Monday morning at a business in Orlando, Fla.
In a series of tweets, the sheriff’s office said that the situation was contained.
Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings told reporters at a news conference that six people, including the shooter, are dead. Demings did not name the suspected shooter but described him as a 45-year-old disgruntled former employee who was fired by the business earlier this year. The suspect was armed with a gun and a knife.
Demings said four of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, and another at the hospital.
The shooting took place at a building that Fiamma Inc., a company that makes RV accessories, operates.
"Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of the victims this morning," Demings said, adding that he hopes to release the names of the victims and the gunman later Monday.
Demings said that officials do not believe the incident is linked to terrorism.
Monday’s incident comes shortly before the first anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub shooting last year, which left dozens dead.
