This Hollywood power player lost his job -- and his fiancée -- over sexual harassment claims
October 17, 2017
The Twitter hashtag #MeToo trended on Twitter over the weekend, as thousands of women recounted times they had been victims of sexual harassment.
That wave of mounting allegations continues to sweep Hollywood, with Amazon Studios head Roy Price as the latest high-profile abuser. Price resigned due to the allegations Tuesday.
What is Price accused of?
Isa Hackett is an executive producer of the Amazon original TV series "The Man in the High Castle." Last week, she told The Hollywood Reporter that in July 2015, Price persistently propositioned her in a vulgar manner in a cab on a way to an Amazon staff party, and continued at the party after she made it clear she was not interested.
You can read the specifics of what Hackett accused Price of saying here. Some readers may find the language offensive.
Amazon placed Price on a leave of absence just hours after The Hollywood Reporter published the allegations.
Hackett said she was inspired to come forward with the allegations by the Harvey Weinstein scandal.
"I think women inspire each other," Hackett said. "I feel inspired by the other women who have been far braver than I am, who have come forward. I hope we all continue to inspire each other and ultimately create change."
The fallout
Amazon has cancelled an event to promote new shows in London, which could be a blow to the company as it tries to compete with streaming giant Netflix.
Price was set to get married to playwright Lila Feinberg next month, but she has called the wedding off, according to her manager.
