Here's how President Trump stands against the top 6 Democratic contenders in stunning new poll

It's still early, but it would be foolish to ignore these indicators

A new poll pits President Donald Trump against six of the top Democratic contenders in a theoretical match-up of the 2020 presidential election, and the results are rather stunning.

The Quinnipiac University poll shows that the president is in negative territory against all six of the top Democratic candidates.

Former Vice President Joe Biden fares the best against Trump with 53 percent over 40 percent, a staggering double digit difference.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has a lead of 9 points over the president, from 51 percent to 42 percent.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) leads the president by 8 points, from 49 percent to 41 percent.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) is also ahead of the president from 49 percent to 42 percent, a difference of 7 points.

Both South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) beat Trump in the poll with 47 percent to 42 percent, a difference of 5 points.

Biden and the president traded barbs on Monday, with the president questioning Biden's intellect, while Biden said that the president was an "existential threat" to the United States.

An earlier Quinnipiac poll in May had better results for the president. The poll found that 71 percent of Americans rated the economy as either "good" or "great," which is the highest number for that poll in almost 18 years.
