GOP uses Keith Ellison's #MeToo allegations to expose Democrat hypocrisy

The Republican Party is going on offense in Minnesota, using the domestic abuse allegations against Keith Ellison to attack Democratic congressional candidates who support him.

Ellison, the Democratic nominee for state attorney general, is credibly accused of physically and verbally abusing his ex-girlfriend Karen Monahan. Despite the allegations, most Democrats in the state are backing Ellison, including Angie Craig, who is running to unseat Rep. Jason Lewis, R-Minn., in Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District.

A new attack ad from the Congressional Leadership Fund SuperPAC attacks Craig for "backing Ellison instead of believing his victim."

Craig faced off against Lewis in 2016, narrowly losing to him by fewer than 7,000 votes. This race is a vital battleground, key to keeping Republican control of the House.

Given that Democrats have previously tried to exploit the #MeToo movement as a rallying cry for women candidates to stand up to President Trump, exposing their hypocrisy is exactly the right tactic in Minnesota ahead of the midterm elections.
