On Iran, radical Islam, and anti-Semitism, Macron is a spineless coward

Radical centrist” Emmanuel Macron came to Washington, D.C., on a mission to convince President Trump to stay in the Iran deal. Instead, the French president further exposed himself as a man entirely uninterested in securing his country and the international community from its biggest global threats — unless you count “climate change” as one of those threats.

Macron presides over a country that has become a hotbed for jihadi terror and anti-Jewish persecution. He has essentially sacrificed his country’s Jewish community to the interests of a radical Islamic mob that continues to gain more political influence as its numbers grow.

Macron occasionally makes a statement about how anti-Semitism in France is an issue that must be addressed. But in typical fashion, he never seems to pinpoint the actors responsible for such anti-Semitism.

Although Jews make up one percent of the French population, they are the victims of 40 percent of all violent hate crimes inside the country. These crimes are overwhelmingly perpetrated by Muslim radicals. The result has been the mass departure of French Jews to Israel and the United States.

But it’s not just Jews who have become the victims France’s open doors to radical Middle East migrants. Over the past few years, France has seen mass-casualty terrorist attacks on an unprecedented scale.

During the 2016 Bastille Day celebrations in Nice, an Islamic terrorist drove a 19-ton cargo truck into crowds of people, killing 86 individuals and injuring 434 more. The November 2015 Islamic terror attack at the Bataclan was the deadliest terror attack in France’s 1500-plus year history as a unified nation. That same year, there was the Islamic terror attack at “Charlie Hebdo” and the coordinating hostage-taking and killing at a kosher supermarket in Paris.

Just as he has attempted to make it look like he’s doing something about anti-Semitism in France, Macron has also attempted to convince people that he is serious about fighting “radical Islamism.”

But under Macron, the attacks continue. Just last month, an ISIS attacker went on a killing spree in southern France, taking out four people before police were able to neutralize him. Macron refuses to address the root of the problem, which is the EU’s open-door policy that allows masses of potential terrorists flow into the European continent unchecked. In fact, Macron is generally supportive of the policy.

Mr. Macron has also assured the international community that Iran will never be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon. And that’s why the U.S. would be safe to stay in the Iran deal, he argues.

He repeated the bold proclamation in his address before a joint session of Congress Wednesday. Unfortunately, just like his previous statements on anti-Semitism and terror, Mr. Macron is entirely unserious about addressing the Iranian nuclear threat. In fact, in that very same speech, the French president warned that rigorous inspections over the nuclear program would cause conflict with Iran.

Undermining Macron’s tough talk on Iran is the reality that he is seeking to empower the regime with several multibillion-dollar trade deals that would reward the terrorist regime in Iran with advanced jetliners and much-needed energy resources.

Just as he fails to tell the truth about and act upon the causes for terror and widespread anti-Semitism in his country, Macron is simply not willing to tell the truth about the threat posed by the Iranian regime and is not serious about countering the world’s foremost state sponsor of terrorism.

The “former” socialist turned “radical centrist” French president is not a model for leadership, but for deception and cowardice. He has failed to keep his own people safe from the continuing terrorist threat, abandoned minority communities in his own country, and is misleading the international community about his willingness to counter potential nuclear threats from the Iranian regime.
