Rep. Hank Johnson, who likened Jews to ‘termites,’ compares Trump to Hitler
January 02, 2019
So much for the new year bringing newfound respect and tolerance.
While delivering a New Year’s Day speech, scientifically challenged Georgia Rep. Hank Johnson, D, compared President Trump’s rise to that of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.
“Hitler was accepting of violence towards the achievement of political objectives,” Johnson said from the pulpit of the Friendship Baptist Church. “Trump encouraged violence against protesters at his rallies, and his messaging about Charlottesville — that there were bad people on both sides — sent a powerful message of approval to the far right racists in America.”
He added: “Americans, particularly black Americans, can’t afford to make that same mistake about the harm that could be done by a man named Hitler or a man named Trump.”
It is quite rich that Johnson, of all people, would liken the very pro-Jewish and pro-Israel President Trump to Hitler, since it is Johnson who has a history of anti-Semitic behavior.
Rep. Johnson once compared Jews living in disputed Israeli territories to termites. In 2016, he said at a speech at an anti-Israel group’s fundraiser:
"There has been a steady [stream], almost like termites can get into a residence and eat before you know that you’ve been eaten up and you fall in on yourself, there has been settlement activity that has marched forward with impunity and at an ever increasing rate to the point where it has become alarming.”
The ADL wrote in response to Johnson’s anti-Semitic comments: “The image of ‘termites’ being used to describe Jews has sordid connotations. In the annals of anti-Semitism, from the medieval period to Czarist Russia, and most pronouncedly in Nazi Germany, there is a common leitmotif of Jews being portrayed as subhuman – rats, cockroaches and other undesirable creatures.”
After his comments were made public, in an attempt to restore his image, Johnson met with representatives from the local Jewish community.
Sadly, Rep. Johnson is just one of countless Democrat officials and leftist public figures who routinely engage in anti-Semitic behavior.
