'Speak your truth’ and hell applauds

You know that scene in the movie “Elf” where Will Farrell’s character, Buddy, is told by his boss at the mall that Santa is coming?

He flips out. Screams. Rants. All of it. Because that’s what you do when your worldview guru is on the way. And so it has been the last few days since Oprah gave her speech at the Golden Globes.

Progressives and the press (but I repeat myself) can’t find enough fainting couches to catch them as they lust over the prospect of her ascendency to federal power.

Upon receiving a reward at the Golden Globes for years upon years of standing for nothing and everything at the same time, she doubled down and proclaimed that “what I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have.”

Powerful indeed. But not “we hold these truths to be self-evident” powerful, as outlined in the Declaration of Independence. No, Oprah carries the banner of an entirely different revolution.

And here are some recent examples of “speaking your truth” that those who are championing her believe with a level of totalitarian conviction:

*A student at the University of Tennessee moved beyond abortion to defend infanticide outside the womb — because he’s actually being honest about the trend line of progressive utopianism — thusly: “The fact of the matter is, without communication, we have no way of knowing if you’re sentient or not. I mean, it’s no different than this tree. It’s alive. But is it sentient? I don’t know. I cannot communicate to it … can the two-year-old talk to me?”

*An erotic gay clothing line has a new cover girl, and naturally it’s a 9-year-old boy dressed as a drag queen. The boy’s mother/abuser is thrilled: “I think it’s extremely important to allow your children to really tap into their creative side, encourage and foster that independent spirit and being an individual. I encourage all parents with their kids, if they have a passion, support it and let them do it.”

*A researcher in artificial intelligence said male erotic cyborgs are on the way to satisfy women: "If women are that interested in getting satisfaction from a vibrator, imagine how the same women will feel having a robot they can put their arms round them and having the robot squeeze them."

*A black singer on a reality television show found out just how drastically his minority status is trumped by the hedonistic cult, when he refused to accept a kiss from another man who thinks he’s a girl and was subsequently chastised as a bigot.

So much for that singer’s truth, I guess. And Donald Trump’s truth, well, that’s just a ticket to the crazy bin, according to the Yale psychiatrist who briefed Democrats about her desire to force Trump to submit to evaluation as a prelude to declaring him unfit for office. If that sounds like a coup, the psychiatrist in question actually said out loud that it was hard to argue with such a judgment. But whatever. The devil is (literally) in the details after all.

So the very sort of people who in just the last week have endorsed examples of apathy for human dignity that would make the pit of hell applaud are nonetheless certain it is a moral imperative to storm the White House in the name of preserving sanity?

That’s where we live, barely two weeks into 2018. No matter that Oprah’s truth only just recently included a cozy snapshot of her actually giving Harvey “open secret” Weinstein a kiss. For just as certain truths are not allowed at all, others are allowed to morph on an as-needed basis in the pursuit of power. It’s a rigged game. And if you think there is a pragmatic loophole for surviving it, you are already dead.

Progressives are fond of talking about so-called dog whistles when it comes to the language that conservatives use. But no one, and I mean no one, does dog whistles better than the horde currently fawning over Oprah. So what do they hear when she talks of “speaking your truth?”

"God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed Him."
