One of the biggest legislative priorities for reigning in an out of control regulatory bureaucracy is the REINS Act. This legislation would require Congress to approve major economic regulations before they go into effect. In effect beginning the return of Congress to its rightful place as a check on the executive branch. This vote is to improve the REINS act with an amendment from Rep. Steve King that would apply the REINS act's requirements to major regulations that are already on the books. This would force Congress to examine and hold up or down votes on every existing economically impactful regulation. The bill passed the House on January 5, 2017 230-193.
