Senator Michelle? Political Hell on Earth with Michelle at the Helm?

If you think things are bad in California under Senator Dianne Feinstein's attempts at banning guns, just imagine how bad it could get under a new senator with a familiar name.

I think I got a glimpse of what hell could be like after reading something on the Internet recently. Finding out for sure what hell is like is something that I never want to experience.

Hearing that First Lady Michelle Obama, may be considering a run to replace Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), if the 81-year-old retires in 2018, caused a shiver to run down my spine.

While it’s only a rumor at this point, rumors have a way of turning into reality especially when liberal Democrats are involved.

Honestly, since I live in California, I couldn’t imagine anyone that would be worse to represent California than Feinstein. However, I now think that Michelle would make Feinstein look like a rookie.

Michelle like former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is an educated attorney who had a career before her married life to President Barack Obama.

Like Hillary, who ran for a Democratic Senate seat in New York and won, following former President Bill Clinton’s presidency, few could have imagined that she would ever run, much less win.

So, while it may just be a rumor at this point, I am not discounting that Michelle would chomp at the bit to be a senator of one of the largest states in the United States.

Being a senator from a state with 55 electoral votes, packs a lot of clout which Michelle would no doubt use to her advantage.

What would California look like with Senator Michelle Obama at the helm?

Californians and the nation could expect to see more control. More control of everything, even more than the control espoused by her predecessor.

Feinstein is a strong supporter of gun control. Although, at one point, she admitted to carrying a concealed weapon when a local terrorist group in the early 1970s threatened her and her family. Supposedly, Feinstein surrendered her weapon in the early 1980s and no longer carries a weapon.

The National Rifle Association once said of Feinstein that, “Senator Feinstein has been trying to ban guns from law-abiding citizens for decades.”

In 2013, Feinstein participated in drafting a national bill to ban assault rifles.

Feinstein argued that, “If only California or New York bans assault weapons, nothing stops an individual from buying an assault weapon in a neighboring state, then crossing the border to commit violence.” The bill was subsequently defeated.

Feinstein was also in favor of the recent bill, AB 1014, signed into law by California Governor Jerry Brown, which allows family members to seek a restraining order and have a gun owner’s gun removed, if the family member feels the owner is a threat to self or others.

If Feinstein had her way, Californians might not even be able to say the word ‘gun,’ because it too would be banned.

Michelle has also spoken out in favor of gun control in her role as first lady but is cautious as not to sound too political in her current role.

As a senator, Michelle would not be restricted in her gun control rhetoric, and would most likely continue to infringe on our Second Amendment rights to bear arms.

Michelle’s husband, after all, has proposed 23 executive actions and three presidential memoranda, to address gun violence in America. There is no reason to believe that Michelle does not support her husband’s gun control agenda.

And, then of course, we would most likely see Michelle’s food control war on a much larger scale. No longer restrained by her position as first lady, and with the teeth of a senator, Michelle could undoubtedly wreak havoc on the American public.

She would perhaps take a page from the playbooks of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and current New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio, both fanatics about implementing controls over their constituents.

Bloomberg instituted a ban on large-size soda drinks for New Yorkers under the guise of public health and safety. The ban was later blocked by a state judge.

DeBlasio, in his newly-elected position, immediately went after charter schools and caused quite a feud as he sought to essentially take money from charter schools and shift it to traditional public schools, limiting parents’ educational choices for their children.

While neither mayor successfully carried through in their plan to exert governmental control, they tried nonetheless, and so will Michelle if she is elected as senator.

It’s difficult to tell at this point, with President Obama’s disapproval rating currently at 53 percent, whether the blue state of California would embrace Michelle and seek an Obama to run their state.

Hopefully, that question will never have to be answered. Here’s praying that the rumors are false and that California and the nation will be spared!
