Anti-Gay Slur May Have Come From Office of GA Sen. Chambliss

"We have seen the allegations and are moving quickly to understand the facts."

A threatening comment made on the gay rights blog Joe.My.God yesterday appears to have originated from the home office of Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss (R), prompting the Senator's office to launch an internal investigation.

After the Senate voted not to allow a defense spending bill with an attached "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" amendment to proceed, a person who identified himself as "Jimmy" left the comment, "All Faggots must die."

Ever the sleuth, blog author Joe Jervis traced the IP address and posted it on his blog asking for reader help. After some digging, one reader found that it belonged to the "United States Senate" in Georgia. The neighborhood of the IP address contains home offices of both Sen. Chambliss and fellow Republican Senator Johnny Isakson,

Isakson quickly told the Atlanta Journal Constitution that the message did not originate with his office. Chambliss on the other hand issued a different statement:

We have seen the allegations and are moving quickly to understand the facts. This office has not and will not tolerate any activity of the sort alleged. ... Once we have ascertained whether these claims are true, we will take the appropriate steps.
