Fiscal Responsibility? Official Says Obama Will Freeze Federal Employee Pay

WASHINGTON (AP) — A White House official says President Barack Obama will announce a pay freeze for federal employees Monday.
The official wouldn't say how long the freeze would be in place.The chairman of Obama's bipartisan deficit commission has proposed a three-year freeze in pay for most federal employees. The commission's report is due to be released later this week.
Obama previously froze salaries of top White House aides and political appointees across the government.
Obama is expected to announce the pay freeze at the White House. The official who revealed his plans spoke on the condition of anonymity so as not to upstage the president's formal announcement.
