MSNBC's Chris Matthews was in rare form today, first giggling with HuffPo's Howard Fineman about Rep. Michele Bachmann being appointed to the House Intelligence Committee, then fondly swooning over President Barack Obama's "boyish smile" that "we all love" with the Washington Post's Eugene Robinson.
Not only was Friday his 65th birthday, but Vice President Joe Biden personally surprised Matthews with a birthday cake at NBC News headquarters in Washington. What a day!
