Comic George Lopez buys championship rings for his old H.S. baseball team

The San Fernando High School Tigers baseball team won it all on June 4th, beating perennial Division 1 favorites, Chatsworth 8-6 to win the championship in a game played at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles. The kids (and coaches) were quite excited;

The winners of the championship are given the opportunity to purchase a commemorative ring, marking their victory, but most of these kids are 'economically challenged' and would not be able to afford to pay for the special piece of jewelry.

Enter a very famous alum with a fat wallet and a big heart.

Comedian and talk show host, George Lopez (who actually played a little baseball during his time at the high school) surprised the team by stepping up and paying for all of them to have a ring.

Well done, Mr. Lopez.

H/T to the LA Times for being on the scene and covering the big win for these deserving youngsters.
