One year ago, a Panera Bread restaurant in the St. Louis area tried something new. They posted 'suggested prices' and allowed people to pay what they felt the meal was worth, or what they could afford.
The company is operating this location as a non-profit and happily reports that the experiment is working. The restaurant feeds typical customers as well as those who come in looking for a free or discounted meal and still has enough money to donate to local causes.
