Bachmann Would 'Extinguish' Gay People, MSNBC Host Says

MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts said Friday Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann would "extinguish" gay people.

The Blaze previously reported on the controversy surrounding the clinic Bachmann co-owns with her husband amid reports that it uses "reparative therapy" techniques to "pray away the gay." Gay activists "glittered" the clinic Thursday.

Speaking with GOProud Executive Director Jimmy LaSilvia, Roberts — who is openly gay — questioned the organization's willingness to reach out to the Minnesota congresswoman to meet with her during the presidential campaign. GOProud is a gay Republican organization opposed to another term for President Barack Obama.

"But you will replace [Obama] with a person that would extinguish you," Roberts said. "You're replacing him with a person who doesn't believe you have a right in this country to get married, that believes you don't even have a right in this country to be gay because she co-owns a clinic that will convert you."

LaSilvia responded, "I think all the presidential candidates should hear our perspective as gay Americans who, like you, live their lives openly and honestly because we bring our unique perspective to our American experience."
