My Name Is...': Viral Videos of the Latest Talent Show to Sweep...Chile

The fall TV season is less than a week old and programming executives at every major network are already making decisions on which of the new shows will stay and which will go.  I have a suggestion for an immediate mid-season replacement program for any number of the failed shows - we need an American version of the TV show "Mi Nombre Es" from Chile.

Yes, it is another singing competition, but a show unlike any you have seen before. Wannabe stars step on an empty stage and announce their name, only it is not their real name, they are assuming the name of the person they sound like. (Or believe that they sound like.)

Check out Javier Diaz as Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder performing "Yellow Ledbetter:"

In case you are not familiar with the original version, compare:

(And no, nobody really knows what the lyrics are to this song.)

In case you are not convinced yet, here are a few other gems from "Mi Nombre Es."

Mi Nombre Es Amy Winehouse (she starts singing about a minute into it, but you have to give her points for bringing props -- a drink and a cigarette:

All music formats appear to be covered on the show, as long as it was a hit. Check out Ivan as AC/DC's Brian Johnson:

And a semi-finalist in the competition, a woman (?) named Solange performing "Poker Face" as Lady Gaga:

If you think that people will not approve of a sound-a-like performer, consider that the 80s band Journey is currently on tour and playing sold out shows  with a new lead singer they found on YouTube. Meet Arnel Pineda singing the smash "Separate Ways:"

To all of the TV execs reading this, get this guaranteed hit show on the air and thank me with a spot as a highly paid guest judge when you do the special "All Elvis Presley" edition of "My Name Is..."
