iPad users rejoice! Facebook has released an app that will allow you to get your fix on the big(ger) screen.

The lack of an iPad app for the most popular social network in the world has been a mystery, ever since Apple launched its tablet computer a year and a half ago. Third-party developers have made money selling their own apps that present Facebook data. The New York Times BITS blog has more:

Apple and Facebook have been in talks for months trying to resolve issues that came up last year when the companies disagreed about Facebook’s integration with Ping, Apple’s music-focused social network. Since then they have been caught in a stalemate over disagreements on coming projects.

Facebook's Chief Technology Officer Brett Taylor said the site is are releasing the app now, at a seemingly random time, because "it's done." In a blog post announcing the app, Taylor highlights the apps features, which include slideshow-like photo presentation, easy left-hand navigation, chat capability and games.

You can download the app, as well as an updated iPhone app here.
