White House Jokes About Congress' Approval Rating And Cain's 9-9-9 Plan
October 27, 2011
"I would respectfully suggest to the speaker that perhaps he should and the House should."
It seems Jay Carney is back to his snarky self.
"I know nine is a popular number in the Republican Party, but this can't possibly be what they want," the White House press secretary said Thursday reference Congress' low approval rating and Herman Cain's much-touted 9-9-9 plan.
Recently, tension between Congress and the president has been exacerbated by the White House's proposal to bypass Congress in a bid to advance its economic proposals via a "We Can't Wait" strategy.
Carney responded to House Speaker John Boehner's concerns about the White House's newest strategy by saying that President Obama is “operating well within the balance of his authority” to issue executive orders to help the economy, according to Politico.
He also added, "I would respectfully suggest to the speaker that perhaps he should and the House should" focus on the economy.
