Things got contentious between GOP candidates Rick Perry and Mitt Romney during the most recent Republican presidential debate.

Newt Gingrich gets all the attention for attacking the TV-centric debate format, but he's not the only Republican who doesn't like it. One guy out of former president Ronald Reagan's administration isn't a fan of the debates either and he doesn't like how they seem to set the stage for gaffes and missteps by the candidates.
From the New York Times:
“It is an ‘Animal House.’ It’s a food fight,” said Kenneth Duberstein, a chief of staff to President Ronald Reagan. “Honestly, the Republican debates have become a reality show. People have to be perceived as being capable of governing this country, of being the leader of the free world.”
