Rosie O'Donnell Is Getting Married -- Again

Rosie O'Donnell, the talk show host and comic who sometimes finds herself in the headlines for making some pretty bizarre political comments, is getting ready to the the knot -- again. The comedienne and her girlfriend, Michelle Rounds, are engaged.

Rounds, 40, is a headhunter for an information technology company. This will be O'Donnell's second marriage, as she and her partner Kelli Carpenter wed in San Francisco back in 2004 -- just two weeks after the mayor there authorized same-sex marriage. These licenses were later voided by the California Supreme Court.

The Huffington Post has more about Carpenter and O'Donnell's amicable split:

O'Donnell and Carpenter, who have four children together, divorced in 2007 after three years of marriage. "[The divorce was] Humbling. And humiliating," O'Donnell told Oprah. "In the O'Donnell family, no one had ever been divorced."

She explains that the couple's separate interests contributed to their split: "[Carpenter] wanted to play tennis at the country club, and I don't do country clubs. I tried. They made an exception for a gay family, and we joined. It was a big thing: 'They let in a gay family--whoo!' So I show up to play with her, and somebody comes out and says, 'You can't play unless you have tennis whites.'"

The 49-year-old talk show host met Rounds at a Starbucks coffee house earlier this year and the couple made their first public appearance together in September. While the AP is reporting that no wedding date has been set, Daily Mail and US Weekly are claiming that the vows may take place over the Christmas holiday.

Both O'Donnell's publicist and a spokesman for the Oprah Winfrey Network say the host of "The Rosie Show" told her studio audience about the engagement Monday during a commercial break. O'Donnell, who has had a long career in the entertainment industry, debuted her new show on Oprah's television network this past September. She tapes in Winfrey's former Chicago studio.

O'Donnell recently purchased a $2.5 million town home in Chicago.
