Perry Tweets Jogging Photo Saying He's Headed to S. Carolina

"And the next leg of the marathon is the Palmetto State..."

Did Rick Perry just pull a fast one?

After finishing a distant fifth in the Iowa caucuses, Texas Governor Rick Perry delivered a speech Tuesday night announcing that he is returning to Texas to reassess his campaign, which many commentators took as a concession that he was bowing out of the Republican presidential primary.

However, the Texas governor released a tweet today from his official Twitter account insinuating that he may be heading to South Carolina to compete after all:

"And the next leg of the marathon is the Palmetto State...Here we come South Carolina!!!" tweeted Perry.

The tweet came shortly before fellow Republican contender Minnesotta Rep. Michele Bachmann, who finished just behind him in the Iowa caucus, announced she was ending her campaign. Many speculated that Perry and Bachmann's supporters would be up for grabs if they ended their campaigns after poor showings in Iowa, giving the opportunity for several anti-Romney factions to merge.
