Huckabee: 'Anyone Who Thinks America is Still a Christian Nation is Smoking Something and It's Probably Not Legal

“If you take a strong Orthodox Christian stand, you have to understand we are in a post-Christian America. It’s painful to say that..."

Video follows below.

After social conservative Rick Santorum was booed during a campaign stop in New Hampshire over his stance on same-sex marriage, former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee appeared on "Your World" with Neil Cavuto to bring some much needed perspective to the equation. In a nutshell? Huckabee asserts that America is no longer the Christian nation it once was, thus Santorum's chilly reception by young'uns on the campaign trail comes as no surprise.  Moreover, according to Huckabee, anyone who thinks America is still a Christian nation is "smoking something" and that something is "probably illegal."

Huckabee explained that the booing incident is merely a reflection of the new American mindset, saying, “If you take a strong Orthodox Christian stand, you have to understand we are in a post-Christian America. It’s painful to say that, but anyone who thinks this is a Christian nation anymore is smoking something and it’s probably not legal.”

Huckabee continued, “For the past 20 years, we’ve clearly drifted away from what I would consider Leave It to Beaver to Beavis and Butthead. We’ve gone from Father Knows Best to Father Knows Nothing.”

In the end, Huckabee astutely observed, “The truth is the people who were booing Rick Santorum weren’t going to vote for Rick Santorum anyway.”

Watch the interview below and weigh in with your thoughts.  Has Christianity become a completely foreign concept in modern American society?
