"Roving band of scam artists who target small stores."
A wolf pack of nine thieves swarmed a neighborhood grocery store in Syracuse, New York and stole $38,000 by distracting the clerk and blocking her view of the crime.
Syracuse police told the media that the thieves are "a roving band of scam artists who target small stores with few employees," according to WNYW-TV.
Cops say the criminal crew took $38,000 from the Vietnamese grocery store Saturday night. Surveillance video from the store shows several men and women milling about while the cashier is lured away from her register and then blocked into an aisle.
One of the thieves slipped behind the counter while others stuffed merchandise into their clothing.
