New Apple iPad 3 Rumors Emerge: March 7 Set as Specific Date

More specific rumors for the iPad 3 release date and details on its expected features have emerged and will most likely continue to do so until the updated device officially hits the shelves.

Last week, we reported that word on the street was that Apple would make its iPad 3 announcement within the first couple weeks of March, or perhaps the last week of February. Now, MacRumors has set a more specific date: March 7. MacRumors reports that those with "inside sources" have confirmed the date.

In addition to having retina display, being a hair larger than the previous model and having a more powerful graphics processing unit, new rumors reported by the Wall Street Journal are that the iPad 3 will run on Verizon and AT&T's 4G LTE network.

According to CNET, 4G capability has been a point of discussion since the iPad 2 was released last year. CNET notes that as of right now, Verizon and AT&T are the only carriers with 4G LTE. Sprint and T-Mobile did not comment on whether they would service the device.
