These Are The 10 Priciest Beers in Major League Baseball

"...three teams charge about $7.25 for a small beer, with one team actually breaking the $8 barrier for the first time ever."

Another glorious baseball season is upon us. And what could be better than a sunny Sunday afternoon spent in the park with a brat and a ice cold beer?

How about a beer that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg?

As everyone who has gone to a Major League Baseball stadium knows, the beer is usually outrageously, hideously, horribly expensive.

“Major League Baseball's average price for a small beer rose from $5.81 last year to $6.16 this year,” The Street reports.

In fact, according to the same report, three teams charge about $7.25 for a small beer, with one team actually breaking the $8 barrier for the first time ever.

And yet, we still buy ‘em because, darn it, we want a cold beer with our brat.

And by "we," we mean "everyone."

So which stadiums have the priciest beer? The Street, with help from Team Marketing Report's "Fan Cost Index," came up with the Top 10 beer prices in baseball.

“In each case, fans are getting soaked beyond the average,” The Street adds.

Here are the 10 costliest beers [all block quotes via The Street]:

10. New York Mets/Milwaukee Brewers

Price of a small draft beer:$5.75

The team moved in the fences, brought back some of the blue and orange trim and kept beer prices steady to give fans something to cheer about after last year's miserable season. The Brewers, meanwhile, celebrated the NL Central title by increasing the price of a 16-ounce beer by 25 cents.

9. Tie: Baltimore Orioles/Los Angeles Dodgers

Price of a small draft beer: $6.25

The O's held to last year's price for an 18-ounce beer, while the recently sold Dodgers are charging 25 cents more for a 16-ounce cup than they did in 2011. With both starting the season on a high note, maybe fans won't notice until the first slump.

8. Tie: White Sox/Rangers/Nationals

Price of a small draft beer:$6.50

The White Sox and Washington held the line from 2011, but really, Rangers? Hiking the price of a 16-ounce cup by $1.50? We know you've been to two World Series in the past two years, but shouldn't you win one before trying that?

7. St. Louis Cardinals

Price of a small draft beer:$6.75

The price hasn't changed since last year, but c'mon. You're practically bicycling Anheuser-Busch InBev products in from the brewery and the stadium has the Busch family's name on it. This must hurt even worse for Cards fans knowing that they're paying more for 12 ounces of beer than their fellow beer-ballpark fans pay for a pint at Milwaukee's Miller Park ($5.75) or Colorado's Coors Field ($6)

6. Atlanta Braves

Price of a small draft beer: $7

Your team collapses at the end of last season and fails to make the playoffs and you still raise the price of a 16-ounce beer by 25 cents. No wonder Coca-Cola is so popular in the ATL.

5. Chicago Cubs

Price of a small draft beer: $7

No playoffs, a new general manager and the price of a pint of beer jumps 50 cents. We won't talk about curses, Cubs fans, but at least Theo Epstein didn't bring Boston's beer prices with him.
