In a new video out this week, the Economic Freedom Project takes a good look at America's health care system and its lack of consumer choice. While the health care industry can be called many things, one of them is not "free-market."
Professor Steve Gohmann walks through the current state of health care insurance in America and where it has gone wrong, pointing out the "how cronyism and regulation have lead to a system that's far from economically free."
"We compared [healthcare rules and regulations] across all fifty states, and what we found was that states with fewer mandates had lower premiums, and certain mandates would cause premiums to be much higher than other mandates," Professor Gohmann says. "The problem with that is, the more mandates you have and premiums go up, fewer people have insurance. And so then we have more of a problem with people being uninsured."
