Mass. Republicans Buy Elizabeth Warren a Remarkably Appropriate Birthday Present

Bet you can't guess what it is.

In honor of Massachusetts senatorial candidate Elizabeth Warren’s 63rd birthday, the state’s Republican Party announced Friday that it is giving her a complimentary Ancestry.com account.

C'mon, it doesn’t matter what your political affiliation is, that’s funny.

“Since Professor Warren has failed to come up with any evidence supporting her claims to Native American ancestry, we thought this Ancestry.com account would make the perfect birthday gift,” said Massachusetts Republican Party executive director Nate Little, according to ABC News.

You all get the joke, right? We’re sure most Blaze readers do, but for those who don't, here’s the quick version of the tale of “fauxcahontas” [via ABC]:

Warren has come under fire in recent months for identifying herself as Native American in law school directories based on a bloodline that she said goes far back, though there has not yet been primary documentation to back up her claim.

Oddly enough, people don’t accept “family lore” or recipes of highly dubious origin as proof of heritage. Whuda' thunk?

The Warren campaign hasn’t responded for comment. We assume they’re not amused.

Final thought: Now we understand that this story isn’t, strictly speaking, “newsy.” But it’s funny. And with all issues facing the U.S. and the eurozone these days, a good laugh is nice every now and then. Indeed, as we once heard in a great movie, “a laugh is nothing to be sneezed at.”
