11-Year-Old Boy Roams Chicago Streets With Molotov Cocktail, Lighter

Police are interviewing an 11-year-old boy after he was seen roaming the streets of Chicago on Monday night holding a Molotov cocktail in one hand and a what looked like a lighter in the other, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The boy was apparently holding a 12-ounce beer bottle filled with what police suspect was gasoline with a cloth wick sticking out of the top of the bottle. Another person close to him was reportedly holding a gas can, according to police.

When he saw he had been noticed by someone in the neighborhood, the 11-year-old boy dropped the bottle and ran. Shortly after, police were called and the Molotov cocktail was collected as evidence and they were able to track down the boy and bring him in for questioning at around 9:50 p.m. No charges have been filed.

Luckily, no fire was started and there were no reported injuries.

A Chicago Police Bomb and Arson Sargent told the Chicago Tribune that the investigation in ongoing but did not provide any additional details as to why the young boy was wandering the mean Chicago streets with a deadly weapon.
