No Chick-fil-A For Me!': See Boston Mayor Refuse Reporters' Attempts to Give Him a Chicken Sandwich

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino sparked a firestorm after he threatened to ban Chick-fil-A from opening restaurants in his city. After public outrage, the political leader backtracked on his original comments and took a more neutral, though still overwhelmingly negative, tone. Now, the popular fast-food chain has come back to haunt Menino, as a silly, new video shows the mayor overtly refusing to eat a sandwich from Chick-fil-A.

Reporters from The Boston Herald offered Menino some delicious eats from the restaurant, but he declined to accept them. In fact, he wouldn't even touch the food when reporters approached him at the hotel he's staying at in Charlotte (the mayor is in town for the Democratic National Convention). The Herald has more:

The Truth Squad thought that would be a good opportunity to make a peace offering to the mayor — a No. 1 combo meal sandwich on a whole-wheat bun.

But Menino did not take the bait. The mayor actually made a face and recoiled when presented with the tasty snack, and refused to even touch it.

"No Chick-fil-A for me," he proclaimed. "You want to make fun of the issue of division -- I'm not there."

This comical video comes after some very real debate surrounding Menino's anti-Chick-fil-A comments earlier this summer. Originally, he said that the restaurant "doesn't belong in Boston."

"You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population," Menino contended. "We’re an open city, we’re a city that’s at the forefront of inclusion."

Later, he backtracked on his comments, admitting that he can't prevent the chain from spreading to Boston.
