We now have the first look at actress Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan, along with Alan Rickman as the Gipper for the upcoming film "The Butler."
The film is a historical drama based on a Washington Post article about longtime White House servant Eugene Allen, who served eight presidents from Harry Truman through Ronald Reagan.
The announcement of Fonda's casting raised eyebrows back in March about the well-known liberal activist portraying the iconic former first lady. Fonda wrote on her website last month of how proud she was to playing her, and saying she knows Nancy Reagan herself is "pleased" about it.
"I'm excited about this. I feel very ready to take her on... I know that she (Nancy) is pleased that I am playing her. I know this because a friend of mine, writer Annette Tapert, was at a party given for her... birthday. I asked Annette to tell Ms Reagan I was honoured to be playing her," Fonda wrote.
The photo emerged Tuesday when Oprah Winfrey, who is acting in the film as Allen's wife, posted it on Twitter. Pictured on the left is director Lee Daniels.
