Boca Raton mayor gives away debate ticket, plans to attend rock concert instead
October 22, 2012
Included on the list of people who won't be attending tonight's presidential debate in Boca Raton, Fla: The city's mayor, Susan Whelchel.
"The President of Lynn [University], Kevin Ross, did offer me a ticket to be in attendance at the debate but I felt it only right to give it to a student," Whelchel said in an email sent to the Sun Sentinel.
She explained where she'll be instead. "I will be in Mizner Park on Monday night at the kickoff with [pop rock band] Neon Trees and the Debate watch to follow."
Neon Trees is performing in the "Rock the Vote" concert just before the debate starts.
