Teacher Suspended for Anti-Obama Facebook Post About Paying for Students' Food Stamps

A South Carolina teacher is the most recent of many to find herself in hot water over political comments on her personal Facebook account.

Following President Obama's re-election last week, Sharon Aceta, an eigth grade math teacher at Rawlinson Road Middle School, wrote:

"Congrats Obama. As one of my students sang down the hallway, 'We get to keep our fooood stamps'...which I pay for because they can't budget their money...and really, neither can you."

Aceta has apologized and deleted the post, and though she was briefly suspended, is expected to return to work this week.

WSCOC-TV adds:

Teachers in the Rock Hill school district are often reminded about being careful when the use social media such as Facebook and Twitter. It is discussed during teacher orientation, staff meetings, and throughout the school year.

"Sometimes you just can't speak out publicly about what you'd personally like to say, about anything," [school spokeswoman Elaine Baker] said. "Teachers are held to higher standards because of what they do."

Last week, TheBlaze reported on another Obama-related Facebook post, though it was far worse than Aceta's.

"And another four years of the n*****....maybe he will get assassinated this term..!!" Denise Helms wrote, originally saying she had no idea what she did wrong.  Unlike Aceta, though, Helms was quickly fired.

The Huffington Post reminds that yet another teacher in Columbus, Ohio wrote on Facebook last week: "Congrats to those dependent on government, homosexuals, potheads, JAY-Z fans, non Christians, non taxpayers, illegals, communists, Muslims, planned murder clinics, enemies of America, Satan You WON!"  School officials are investigating the case.
