Kim Kardashian's Bahrain Visit Sparks Protests From Islamists

Just hours after reality TV star Kim Kardashian gushed about her impressions of Bahrain, riot police had to fire tear gas to disperse more than 50 hardline Islamic protesters denouncing her presence in the Gulf kingdom.

The clashes took place just before Kardashian opened the Bahrain branch of her Millions of Milkshakes shop.

In case you're not familiar with it, here is a promotional video from the website:

An Associated Press journalist saw protesters chanting "God is Great" near the shopping complex in Riffa, some 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of the capital Manama.

However, police were able to clear the demonstrators before Kardashian appeared late Saturday.

As TheBlaze reported on Friday, a number of conservative lawmakers in the region attempted to pass a resolution preventing Kardashian from even stepping foot in the country.  However, Kardashian's tweet about Bahrain being "the prettiest place on earth" was re-tweeted by the country's foreign minister.

Here are a few of the reality television star's other tweets about Bahrain:

Kardashian's Bahrain trip followed a recent visit to Kuwait to open another branch of "Millions of Milkshakes," and she reportedly faced a similar backlash there.
