State Dept. Security Chief and 2 Others Resign After Benghazi Report
December 19, 2012
The State Department security chief and two others resigned Wednesday following an independent report that blamed "systematic failures" in management for "grossly inadequate" security to respond to the deadly Benghazi, Libya attacks, the Associated Press reported.
An administration official told the AP that Eric Boswell, assistant secretary of state for diplomatic security, and Charlene Lamb, deputy assistant secretary responsible for embassy security, both stepped down under pressure after the report's release. The third official worked for the Bureau of Near East Affairs but was not immediately named.
