Scariest Thing I Think I've Ever Seen': 100 lbs. Light Fixture Comes Crashing Down on High School Wrestler

High school senior Michael McComish discovered last week what it means to “bring the house down”:

As a member of the Madison High School wrestling team in South Dakota, it was McComish’s moment in the spotlight, unfortunately both figuratively and literally -- that's because a spotlight literally came crashing down on him:

“That was the scariest thing, folks, I think I have ever seen,” one of the announcers can bear heard saying in the video.

Thankfully for McComish, and despite the fact that the 100-lbsspotlight dropped 15 feetonto his head, the damage was minimal and he laughs off the incident.

“After a couple of seconds I realized what it was -- I noticed all the glass and thought 'okay, this isn't good,’” McComish told KSFY.

“I thought this guy's kind of aggressive and then I realized it was the light. Everyone's been asking if I'm going to look up every time I wrestle now,” he joked with Today.

McComish needed about 20 stitches after the incident. (Courtesy KSFY).

“The incident sent him to the emergency room where McComish had to have about 20 stitches in two places on his head,” CBS News reports.

McComish’s mother and his school are thankful the incident wasn't more serious.

“We are very thankful it was not more serious. We are hoping for the best and taking it just one day at a time,” his mother told the Madison Daily Leader.

“The unfortunate accident that occurred on Friday was indeed a scary moment for everyone involved. We are thankful to report that (McComish) is recovering and is in school,” Madison High School said in a written statement.
