Sen. Ron Johnson Responds After Clash With Hillary Clinton During Benghazi Questioning

Heated Questioning and Response Between Sen. Ron Johnson and Sec. of State Hillary Clinton on Benghazi 1/23 (CSPAN)

Four months after a deadly terrorist attack on a U.S. consulate in Benghazi, an attack that was originally described by the Obama administration as a protest to an American-made YouTube video, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testified before Congress for the first time Wednesday to explain the actions of her department leading up to and immediately following the events of September 11, 2012.

In a morning hearing with Senate leaders, Clinton clashed with Sens. Paul and McCain, and raised her voice during an argument with Wisconsin Republican Ron Johnson when questioned about the Obama administration's reaction and media messaging to the public about the attack that left four Americans dead; including Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens.

"We were misled that there were supposedly protests and then something sprang out of that, an assault sprang out of that and that was easily ascertained that that was not the fact and the American people could have known that within days,” Johnson said at one of the most heated points of his questioning. “And they didn’t know that.”

“With all respect, the fact is we have four dead Americans was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided they’d go kill some Americans,” Clinton shouted. “What difference at this point does it make? It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again, senator.”

Johnson joined 'Real News' Wednesday to discuss the Benghazi hearings and his clash with Clinton.
